In my latest visit to the famous book center Barnes and Nobles I came across a new novel called Tease. The author of the book Amanda Maciel, is a children's book author and "Tease" is her first novel.
This book came to my attention and I decided to read it because it's based on real events which broke my heart.
The plot follows a group of teenagers who are in a middle of a legal battle because they are being charged for a suicide of a girl in their school.
At first I couldn't understand why someone could be charged for murder if a suicide is someones own decision. So I started reading the book, and immediately became hooked. The book rotates from chapters from before and after the suicide. The after chapters are mainly therapy sessions, and legal reunions while the before chapters explain how these teenager contributed to the death of this girl.
I don't want to give away more detail from the book but I truly recommend it, not only is it an easy read but its extremely touching .
This book shows how bullying can come to break someone and make someone who loves life, ultimately hate it. No one deserves to be treated wrongfully and I believe that more of these books should be written to create more awareness of the serious aftershocks of words.
