Since I have began the innovation academy program, one of the most important things that I have learned that I value the most is being able to step out of your own comfort zone and exploring new, different things.
This is something that has always been very hard for me. I like to stay within my own comfort zone, because I feel safe. Being in the IA is already stepping out of the cookie cutter structure that my school follows, but finding new opportunities is up to each of us.
Last week I had the opportunity to do so.
I was browsing through some magazine left in my living room when I was perplexed to see that my aunt had been featured in an article from the well known magazine "Cosas Moda", "Hola" and "Cosas" ( no she wasn't photographed in the social part). They had actually made an article of her as a fashion designer. I had always admired her, she is the designer to most of what I wear because her work is beautiful. I knew she had always designed to her family and friends, and some clients but she had never liked to be public about her work. I felt so proud to be able to see her beautiful work in print.
Two days later, I decided to visit her in her atelier were we ended up sitting down and talking for two hours (as per usual) . She told me that after the article went on sales, many people including friends had called her and told her that they were astonished to see her work. Most of them didn't even know that she designed.
Knowing how talented she is with designing and how passionate she is with her own work , I kept on telling her that she had to create her brand and make it public. Talent like that, can't be hidden.
Specially because Agusta, doesn't only design , creates a relationship with her costumers but she sits down with each of her employees which are like friends and she also sews.
I told her about the IA, and how I could maybe help her set up an Instagram account and a Facebook to advertise her brand.
She was extremely excited and was willing to experiment with any ideas.
After brainstorming with her she told me that she left everything up to me, and that she would collaborate with anything that I needed to make her brand expansion for Agusta Vallejos designs possible.
Taking this in mind, I decided that it was time to walk out of my comfort zone and try something new.
I am so excited for this project that Gabriel Barreto <3 and I have a meeting today, to start making arrangements for this brand.
I think that I have finally found an opportunity that will help me experiment, and step out of the ordinary. At the same time, I am sure that I will have fun and maybe find a new idea for a possible career that I could pursue.
We will have to see!
