Many people look for role models in celebrities, famous enterpenuers or sports stars. I have known mine, since the day I was born. My mom is what I consider my fairy godmother in disguise, she has always been there to support me and make my tears go away when I most needed it. Not only has she been the best mother I could have ever asked for, but she has helped me acquire a sense of passion for certain things that don’t even have a price.
From putting her career on hold, to be able to raise my siblings and I, to giving me the habit of reading every night before going to be, to always challenging myself. My mom has been a true inspiration since I was young.
I am now getting to the point were I have grown up and I am on the path of finding what I truly want to study. To me, it was much easier to think of my future as pre planned. I was always going to study a career like business, or administration something pretty boring but that looked beautifully in a curriculum. Though my plan seemed safe it wasn’t truly what I desired. I have always wanted to be a lawyer, it was something that I could always imagine myself doing but most importantly, enjoying. Nevertheless, every time I started thinking of studying law, my thoughts would get sidetracked with all the negativity. First and foremost to be able to practice law in Peru, I would have to study here, second of all its 8 years of college. How was I going to stay to study in Peru, when all my life I had known that i HAD to leave Lima? Wasn’t I going to get board of all those years studying?
It was then looking at my mom, that she inspired me to do what my heart really wanted that my head wasn’t able to process.
After my siblings and I grew up, my mom found her new passion which is healing and everything related to alternative medicine. She worked hard studying, and getting involved in something new, starting from 0.
With her huge heart I knew that she was going to make it big. Her will to see others smile even when she isn’t able to, is astonishing. Not only that, she genuinely gets preoccupied for all of her costumers.
My mom now owns her own alternative medicine center called “ Sirius” (www.sirius1147.com) , where she is able to practice her passion and at the same time help out people in need. Wholeheartedly she wakes up everyday with the best energy and positivity to help others. One of the things that I most admire about her, is that most of her cases are pro bono. Her work space is filled with love and purity, its extremely soothing and a place were there is absolutely no negativity.
Growing up my mom was the reason behind most of my smiles and best memories. Now that I have grown up, and been raised by the best she has influenced me in choosing the career that I truly want to study. I also know for a fact that when I do graduate from law school, I want to work but for a greater purpose. I want to make a difference just like she is able to do every day.
