Jose 18 ( almost 19) got accepted into Stanford university early decision in December 2013. For the past eight months I was filled with admiration , happiness and excitement for him knowing that the entrance rate for Stanford is of 5.1 % . I finally understood the meaning of being proud .
I don't really care which university he got accepted into or where he ended up because I am proud enough to have a brother like him.
I hate to brag, but he is the most well rounded and the sweetest person in the world. He is the most loyal companion and he is able to give the wisest tips when I am lost. I like to think of him as a genius in disguise. He is incredibly intelligent, and well read. He dominates everything that he desires and is able to overcome any obstacle that crosses or challenges his path. The best part is that if you met Jose you wouldn't really think that he maintained a 7.0 grade average since he was in the eighth grade or that he is the coach for the national Peruvian Debate Association. You would see a regular teenager who enjoys being with his friends .
It is really no surprise that Stanford accepted him. Since he was in second grade I have seen my brother push himself and fix everything that didn't seem right in his eyes. He is the hardest worker and extremely persistent. Getting into his dream college was just something that we all new would happen because he deserves Stanford and so much more.
So when I saw him with his suitcases walking out the door from my home I realized that I wasn't only losing my brother but a best friend, inspiration and a mentor. I know that he will continue being the best at everything he does, and I will continue being the proudest sister in the whole world for having the best brother I could have asked for,
I am incredibly jealous that Stanford stole the best from me. I look forward to see him follow his dreams in Palo Alto and continue loving to learn.
