Garwichbbdo, is one of the most well known advertisement agency in Peru and latin america. I felt honoured that they were giving me the opportunity to see how work is in those types of environments. Having really important clients like Pepsi, Avianca and Volkswagen the agency keeps busy.
I came in the first day, convinced that this was the beginning to what was going to eventually turn into a career. What I didn't know is that I was about to crush against a brick wall and my hard headed ways were about to be adjusted.
I fear change, so when I sat down in my desk which the agency had prepared specially for me, and Karla my supervisor advised that there was a very big possibility that by the end of the day I wouldn't want to pursue that time of career I got extremely frustrated.
The agency were incredibly welcoming, and they have done everything so that I felt as revenant to the work done as possible. I have been taught to do simple tasks like to post new ideas, or email the people of Avianca with their latest outline for their newest promotion.
I ended my week being able to sit down in a meeting where colours and outlines for potential ideas for Avianca were discussed. I got to live the passion and the frustration carried out by the artists. Their talents left my mouth hanging wide open. I didn't really understand how demanding a client can be, and how rigorous and shallow the outlines they specify the designers to use are.
As much as I have loved learning about how an agency of this relevance works, i have realised that I am not build to be part of this type of job.
I am so happy to be able to have these weeks to figure out what I really think of studying publicity.
I really believed that having an internship would help me realise a little bit more of what working in an office works, I really didn't imagine it impacting and making me realise what my strengths and weaknesses are. I also like it because I feel like I am doing something that has relevance.
